One of the two main functions of a Mardi Gras Krewe is to perform a major philanthropic deed each year. In keeping with this tradition, the Mystick Krewe des Acadiens
donates $5,000.00 annually from its proceeds to a single, different charity of our choosing. Our criteria are usually these: the proposed charity must have local beneficiaries and should be considered to be charitable group without national resources.
Some local recipients have been the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Holy Cross parish, the Prader Willi Syndrome of Georgia, and the Joseph Sams School, among others. In our own way, we are helping to have a positive impact on metro Atlanta residents who need assistance. Some are even so-called "forgotten" charities, and it is our pleasure to extend our small donation to these organizations...thanks to the friends and families who attend our Ball. The money we receive for invitations covers our donation amount to a charitable group.
