Despite the layers of tradition and centuries of strict guidelines relating to all
aspects of Carnival season, there are no specific rules for selecting a theme of the Bal Masqué. Therefore, we often find ourselves turning to the things, people and places we love best for inspiration.

For we who have roots in Acadiana, perhaps no other region of our country instills such love and loyalty as southern Louisiana.

The classic old plantations homes along the venerable Mississippi River and the bayous of the Acadien Parishes have come to symbolize this region more than just about anything else. These stately homes were built for the wealthy holders of the great sugar and cotton fortunes. Constructed by slaves who demonstrated great ingenuity in design, craftsmanship and practicality, these manor houses are treasures of a bygone era and most are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Join us on board the Delta Queen at 8:00 p.m. sharp, for a steamboat journey back through the mists of time as we bring to life the people of Les Plantations au Clair de Lune!
