![]() It is about doing the unusual and unexpected.
The art of a Mardi Gras Tableau is in the details. The script's details are every bit as important as the costumes themselves. A great deal of time and effort go into these annual productions, and all of us, Acadiens and guests alike, should be intently focused on what is happening in front of us. If we are to create an enjoyable illusion, just as actors on any stage, we need your undivided attention.
As we approach a new century and a new millennium, we find ourselves inspired by old maps of the "new" world. While French explorers first observed Mardi Gras in Louisiana over 300 years ago, lands far to the south had been explored and settled 200 years earlier by Spanish and Portugese colonists. This night, as we presented our final Bal Masqué of the Twentieth Century, we explored some of these new world countries and listened to some of the great music that was born South of the Border!!
